Case Study : Revitalizing a Brand

Cox Communications, the cable and telephony subsidiary of media giant Cox Enterprises, serves multiple markets around the country. A new direction for the company required a new identity focusing on technological innovation. It also needed to coincide with their initial public offering and appeal to potential shareholders. Their original identity had a geometrically rendered logo and an accompanying rainbow of colors. We retained some details of the original, including setting in all caps, maintaining typographic weight, and the color blue. A stroke of the letter x was stylized to represent satellite transmissions, and red and green were added for relevance (RGB). In addition to the logo, Molecule designed the following applications for this identity: vehicular signage, environmental signage, stationery, premium items, and more.
